Bonjour! I'm Danielle.
A versatile pantry staple that adds an extra kick of vanilla flavor! Add this vanilla sugar to coffee, tea, and baked goods! Simply use it in place of granulated sugar in a variety of recipes to elevate your dessert. A vanilla-lover’s dream!
Method
There are a few different methods for making vanilla sugar, but the method I’m sharing below is a simple 2:1 ratio of sugar to vanilla beans. For every 2 cups of sugar, you’ll need 1 vanilla bean. Simply scrape seeds out of a vanilla bean pod, pulse with some granulated sugar, and let the vanilla magic happen. The end result is a lovely speckled sugar that is rich with vanilla flavor.
Other methods of vanilla sugar are even more simplified. You may choose to simply split open a vanilla bean pod (leaving seeds in tact) and place in a canister of sugar. Though the flavor won’t be as intense, you’ll be left with an infused vanilla sugar without specks. Continue to replenish sugar in the container with the beans for an ongoing supply of vanilla-infused sugar.
Whichever method you choose, vanilla sugar can be yours in no time (and little effort)!
Vanilla Sugar
Yield: 2 cups

This vanilla sugar is super simple to make and can be used to add extra flavor to coffee, tea, and baked goods!
Ingredients
2 cups granulated sugar
1 vanilla bean
Instructions
Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and use your fingers to pry open the pod.
Use a knife or spoon to scrape all of the seeds out of the pod.
Pour the granulated sugar into a food processor. Place the vanilla bean seeds in the food processor with the sugar and pulse until the seeds are evenly distributed. (note: you may use a whisk to combine by hand, but it can be challenging because the seeds tend to clump together)
Transfer the vanilla bean sugar into an air-tight container and let set for 1-2 weeks so the vanilla can infuse into the sugar. You may also choose to place the leftover vanilla bean pod directly into the container with the sugar for additional flavor!
